Coast Digi’Mo – Facial Fundraising for Movember

,

There are some strange things going on at the Coast Digital offices, particularly under the noses of some of the Coasties. As you may or may not be aware, it’s currently Movember, an annual event that encourages men around the world to sprout a moustache in support of men’s health.

The Coast Digital Mo Bros are now in their second week of moustachery, and whilst the levels of testosterone (and growth) may be questionable, they are dedicating all their energies into creating their very own top lip warmers by the end of the month.

Coast Digital Movember

Being a Mo Bro isn’t just about looking fantastic with a moustache however, nor is it about attempting to emulate moustachioed idols like Burt Reynolds, Salvador Dali or Tom Selleck, it is about raising money for a great cause and being a mobile billboard for men’s health. The Coast Digital Mo Bros will be supported in achieving this objective by their Mo Sistas and the entire Coast team throughout Movember.

About Movember

Movember in the UK raises funds and awareness for the 2 most common male cancers; prostate and testicular. Funds raised are poured into programmes which include The Institute of Cancer Research and the Prostate Cancer Charity. Last year the month long event raised nearly £45 million worldwide, £11.7 million of which was raised in the UK. These fundraising efforts of the Mo Bros and Sistas around the world are vital in improving awareness, delivering education, advancing research into men’s health issues and importantly, increasing rates of cancer survival.

Men’s Health Statistics (Courtesy of Movember.com)

  • 1 out of 9 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime.
  • Prostate cancer is the most common men’s cancer in the UK.
  • In 2008, prostate cancer took the lives of over 10,000 UK men.
  • Almost 2,000 UK men were diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2007.
  • Testicular cancer is most prevalent in men between the ages of 20 and 50.
  • Just over a quarter of men go to their GP’s for regular checkups.

With two weeks gone and two to go all of the Coast Digital Mo Bros are stepping up their fundraising efforts in support of the vital work carried out by Movember and its men’s health partners, any donations to the cause would be gladly welcomed, if you are interested in giving a donation you can do so here:
